Center for Dance

The Ulster Arts Co. Center for Dance serves its community by offering high quality dance instruction over multiple disciplines. We aim to embrace our entire community and create space for anyone interested in dance.

Our student program is designed to offer high quality, classical ballet training to prepare our students for college level dance programs, junior ballet companies, or equip them to enjoy dance as a form of expression for life!

Meet our Co-Founder

Iyanla Lovaglio started dancing at the young age of five beginning her training at her local school in Saugerties, NY. Iyanla studied in various disciplines including tap, contemporary, classical ballet, etc. Furthering Iyanla's education she attended the "American Ballet Theater's" summer program and two summers at the prestigious "Rock School for Dance Education".

In Iyanla's professional career, she has performed various principal roles and group pieces at "The Festival of Dance", "Choreography on the Edge", and the former Ulster Ballet Company's annual holiday show, "A Christmas Carol". She has also worked with notable local choreographers Sharon Penz, Julie Manna, Philip Krauter, Holly Gross, Judith Ore, and Leighann Kowalsky.

Iyanla doesn't just have a passion for the arts but also in dance education. She has almost ten years of teaching experience working with a range of students between ages 2-60+. Iyanla hopes to create a safe and creative space to share her love of dance with her community.

Our Studio

Our studio features a thirty-by-thirty-foot dance area equipped with state-of-the-art Quietstep vinyl dance floors and shatter-proof mylar mirrors. Having the correct floor surfacing, and the newest available technology, we offer a safe and professional space to train.

We have two handicap accessible restrooms, and a medium sized women's changing room.

Our lobby space is not large and only offers seating for a few people. We recommend all parents work towards a goal of not staying to observe class; this allows their child to build confidence and independence, while generally being more focused.
